Digital technologies have become ubiquitous in the United States and across much of the world. Recent prevalence estimates from the Pew Research Center indicate that 95 percent of U.S. adults own a cellphone and 64 percent own a smartphone.
The digital media landscape – especially social media – shapes people’s awareness of health issues and perceptions about health-related behavioral norms.
Additionally, digital health education programs and campaigns can help people reach goals, obtain social support, and change their behavior.
