COVID-19: Update and Impact on African American and Vulnerable Populations

The first day of 2020 came with the news that an outbreak of a new virus (SARS-CoV-2) had emerged in China.

The fast-paced dissemination and increasing mortality of the new disease, COVID-19, sent global shock waves that drastically altered our way of life. In less than four months, more than 1.5 million individuals were infected and more than 100,000 deaths. The United States become the country with the highest morbidity and mortality by COVID-19 in the world.

Health education professionals must understand the implications of COVID-19 for their practices and adjust ongoing health education and promotion interventions accordingly.VID-18covidco
